ncaa sucks
Not much going on Saturday night besides the USC / Ohio St. matchup. But tonight we have Clemson @ #15 Georgia Tech on ESPN! I never get to the see the Ramblin' Wreck play in primetime and/or in HD, so I'm pretty excited.

Alabama hosts Florida International Saturday at 6pm. It's on PPV only. I won't get to see it because I'll be in Atlanta with my family. Why will I be in the ATL? I'll be attending the Falcons home opener vs. the Miami Dolphins, woo! Mom and I will root for the Falcons, while my uncles and cousins (who are originally from Miami) pull for the Dolphins. Should be fun!

As for the schedule... I only have two notes: The SEC lost only one game last weekend. That was Georgia, and they fell to #9 Oklahoma St. The ACC lost TWO games to teams in Division I-AA. Virginia lost to William & Mary, and Duke lost to Richmond. (The Spiders!)

One last thing - GO TROY! :)

A few good games this week. Obviously, I'll be watching ESPNU at 2:30, only occasionally checking on other games. Other than our game, I'm particularly interested in Iowa-Iowa State (somebody's gotta win, I think), Fresno-Wisconsin (possible upset), Air Force-Minnesota (ditto), Purdue-Oregon (do the ducks recover from that awful performance?), South Carolina-Georgia (a good game every week in the SEC), UCLA-Tennessee (should tell us something about both teams), UNC-UConn (no real comment here), Cougar High-Okie Lite (Houston-Oklahoma State for those outside the pertinent region; could be a shootout), Michigan-Notre Dame (I hope I'm hailing the victors), and of course USC-Ohio State. For the first time that I can remember, I'm cheering for the University of Spoiled Children (thanks for reminding me of that last night during halftime, Mr. Holtz), because I think tOSU is rather overrated and needs to be exposed.

You catch FSU-Miami on Monday or GT-Clemson last night? Two very entertaining ACC games. I have absolutely no idea what's going to happen in that conference, and to me, that's exciting. ACC is nowhere near the quality of the SEC or the Big XII in terms of strength, but it's entertaining all season long because of unpredictability.

Yep, I saw both those games. I was impressed with both FSU (sadly) and Miami (surprising!). It'll be interesting to see how those two do this year.

Georgia Tech was awesome to watch for about 1.5 quarters. After that, it was excruciating. It was like a train wreck that you couldn't stop watching. I'm not sure Tech deserved to win that game, but at least they showed some resilience at the very end and then held on. Whew, is all I can say.

I'm not going to be able to watch much of anything Saturday since I have to spend 3.5 hours during the day driving to ATL and then hanging out with the fam that evening. I'm sure we'll find some sports bar to watch USC and Ohio St., at least. I will probably have to pull for OSU since half my family is from and lives in Ohio. I have no love for either of those teams, though.

I was surprised to see TCU ranked so highly as I was making out the schedule this week. They definitely snuck up on me. Good luck! Though I don't think you'll need it against Virgina... (Unless they're so pissed off from losing to a I-AA team they become the Patriots for a week.)

Oh yeah, I forgot, you're kind of a Georgia Tech fan, aren't you? Totally slipped my mind. I was most interested in that game because we play Clemson in a couple of weeks. I'll be in South Carolina for that game. I'm a bit more scared of the Tigers now, but I think it's still winnable for my Frogs. I was mildly pulling for Clemson so that they might be ranked when we play, but I was just happy to see an entertaining game.

And thanks. I also don't think we'll need the luck against Virginia. Al Groh's so done. He'll be gone by mid-November at the latest.
